Make-up, in its truest sense, should hide your imperfections, highlight your best features and generally make you glow. However, in a contemporary society where cosmetics are slowly being seen as an integral part of a stylish wardrobe, many young women suffer the wrath of incorrect, often inappropriate, make-up looks. As a result, they appear older – which should not be so – unless they have other objectives in mind!
For most women, makeup is an essential part of the whole style package. In fact, a sizeable portion of the shopping budget often goes to cosmetics – no wonder there are tons of products in the market! From foundations and primers to lip glosses and mascaras, new tools of the beauty trade just seem to keep on coming.

Like many other pale (OK, ghostly white) girls, I have to pamper my face in order to keep my skin from becoming dull and uneven, especially in the wintertime. It’s a difficult task given that my combination skin that dries out and becomes oily quickly. Since high school, I’ve been a closet hoarder of all things ‘product’. Shampoo, conditioner, chapstick…new body lotion excites me! As you may imagine, I’ve tried many products in the past without ever finishing a full container before I’m opening a new one. After many failed attempts at finding the perfect products, my latest facial skin care regimen is definitely the best I’ve found for my combination-type skin.
A. Cetaphil cleanser in am/pm
B. Pores No More refining cream (light moisturizer)
C. Pores No More pore refiner (T-zone)
D. Tarte Smooth Operator light tinted moisturizer with SPF 20
The Cetaphil cleanser does it’s job without drying out my skin. I usually apply it with Sephora’s face complexion brush to gently exfoliate. I’d love a Clarisonic but it’s too pricey! Pores No More refining cream is very light and smooth and it’s great as a light daily moisturizer that doesn’t clog your pores. I use Pores No More pore refiner on my T zone and it minimizes the appearance of my pores and lasts all day. I love the Tarte Smooth Operator for it’s SPF 20, especially since I use the Retinol Fusion at night. Peter Thomas Roth’s Retinol Fusion PM is a silky serum that does not dry out your skin like other retinols. Like any retinol or anti-aging product, it’s important to remember SPF during the day. Although all retinols increase skin’s sensitivity to the sun, this product has has no drying effect on my skin — super impressive!
*To save some money, I started with the Pores No More to go kit from Sephora.
